SURAT: In a significant embarrassment for the Government Railway Police (GRP) of Gujarat Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF), a group of passengers detained Bandra-Bhuj-Kutchh Express at Surat railway station on Thursday night. The passengers have been protesting the police inactiveness over the grievance about the presence of 2 women bootleggers within the train. Passengers alleged these women are ferrying about 10 bottles of liquor during the train.
Trains are extensively used by plenty of criminals to move liquor and ganja into dry Gujarat.
The passengers have been agitated since none of the security agencies took actions against the ladies who have been ferrying liquor regardless of the issue being reported at Valsad railway station. Few movies of the passengers' protest went viral on social media. Passengers pulled chain of the train and didn't allow it to transport for few minutes at Surat railway station.
Many passengers overlooked the train as they had to stay again at Surat railway station to push police to sign up a case.
Meanwhile, RPF was fast to take actions against their staffers who didn't take rapid actions.
“Since handiest male individuals have been a part of the RPF crew they might no longer check the ladies who've tied the bottles on their frame underneath their garments. Though, we've got registered a case of inactiveness against the RPF group of workers and price ticket checker of the train,” said AK Shukla, senior department security commissioner, RPF, Mumbai department.
