ALLAHABAD: Holi celebrations for the citizens of the 'Sweeper Basti', a locality in the Mumforganj locality of town so named as majority of persons are engaged in career of sweeping, have been for a surprise on Saturday.
Joining their festivities of their basti (locality) have been BJP candidate for Phulpur bypoll, Kaushaildera Singh Patel, in conjunction with state minister for civil aviation Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi and his spouse and town mayor, Abhilasha Gupta. Along with these VIP’s have been ratings of BJP supporters who moved from door to door, meeting the citizens and campaigning for the party.
As Saturday was the second one day of Holi (the competition is widely known on two days in the Sangam city), the citizens have been already in the celebrative temper. Dancing and making a song to the hit numbers and making use of colours on each and every other.
At around noon, Patel in conjunction with the minister, city mayor and masses of BJP supporters, wearing the saffron coloured cap, arrived at the basti.
