Unsolved murders pile up over two years, oldest with Colonelganj police station

ALLAHABAD: The police are yet to figure out as many as 10 murder cases pending for the past two years in the district. Six out of these cases are pending with Kareli, Kydganj, Georgetown, Dhoomanganj and Colonelganj police stations in city limits.
The checklist of unclosed cases comprises the killing of city's main surgeon Dr A Okay Bansal, who was once gunned down by way of unidentified assailants within his chamber close to Bai Ka Bagh area beneath the jurisdiction of Kydganj police station on January 12, 2017.

While reviewing the checklist of unsolved murder cases, police government claimed that a total of 10 cases, together with 4 cases of 2016, three cases of 2017 and 3 of 2018 are still pending with various police stations of the district.

IG (Range) Ramit Sharma mentioned that the dep. was once taking the issue critically and he has directed his subordinates to unravel those cases at the earliest.

The oldest unsolved murder case is pending with Colonelgaj police station wherein some unidentified miscreants had killed a senior citizen at Fatehpur Pichwa, Tagore Town area beneath the Colonelganj police station on February 15, 2016. However, the law enforcement officials are groping in the dark even after a lapse of 2 years.


Similarly, three murders registered with Kareli, Georgetown and Meja police stations in 2016 are yet to be cracked. Three different cases registered with Kydganj and Dhoomanganj police stations in 2017 too remain unsolved, exposing the working taste of the police.


Besides, three cases registered with Tharwai, Manda and Soraon police station in January and February this month are yet to be solved.


Though police claimed to have solved the triple and double murders that rocked the Sangam city not too long ago, piling of unsolved cases has put senior police officials in a piquant scenario.


Police records claimed that a total of 121 murders have been registered in 2017 while as many as 21 cases have been reported between January 1, 2018 and March 15, 2018.
