Uproar in Gujarat assembly over nuclear plant in Bhavnagar

AHMEDABAD: The state meeting witnessed noisy scene when the opposition congress alleged that the state government has failed to acquire the land for the nuclear power plant to be arrange in Bhavnagar.

Chief minister Vijay Rupani replying to the question of Jamalpur MLA Imran Khedawala stated that the Union government led via Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had conceived the idea of nuclear plant and six such crops were to be arrange around the country.


Rupani stated the MOU was signed with America to arrange the crops, however following a Tsunami in Japan there was damage to the nuclear power plant which led to very large scale destruction. After this incident, the folk of the area the place the plant is to be arrange are in opposition to the transfer. Rupani additional stated that although the project was conceived in 2007 there was no growth in any part of the rustic.


Saurabh Patel replying to the federal government stated there a number of NGOs and anti-government forces who were trying to instigate other people in opposition to the nuclear plant. He stated that there must be a political will to arrange this nuclear plant. The Congress even made a hue and cry over the different different MOUs that have been signed and weren't carried out. But the federal government refused to answer the questions pointing out that the question in debate was only for Bhavnagar.
