Woman’s charred body found in Holika

GULALI, KANPUR DEHAT: A lady’s charred body was present in a ‘Holika’ in Kanpur Dehat on Friday morning. It was sent for postmortem after initial investigation.

“She used to take a seat still and meditate for hours on the roof of our area, and it seems that did the same on the day of ‘Holika dahan’,” stated Shrinath Singh (70), father of Seema whose body was present in Holika in Gulauli village under Musanagar police station in Kanpur Dehat.


“Seema, mom of four kids, dressed in wedding finery, left house with a ‘diya’ pronouncing that she was going to wait ‘Holika Dahan’ rituals, but went lacking. We introduced a frantic seek for her, but in useless,” stated Seema’s sibling Amitendra. “Seema often used to dress up as ‘Holika’. At times, she even addressed herself as ‘Holika’, but we had no inkling that she will hotel to such excessive step. Had she exhibited some roughly suicidal tendency, we wouldn’t have let her undertaking out,” he added. “Some early risers noticed the stench of burning flesh emanating from ‘Holika’ on Friday and alerted police,” stated Munnu, a villager. “When wood was cleared, we saw a burnt body and pulled it aside. It was beyond popularity. Seema’s family identified it from her bangles and ornaments,” stated SHO Musanagar.


“A case was registered in Musanagar police station and we're wondering her kin. We are working on each and every conceivable perspective,” stated SP Ratan Kant Pandey.


Forensic experts collected samples and dispatched them for additional analysis. “Though her family claims that she left house for Holika Dahan no person saw her sitting or loitering close to Holika,” stated Raghav. Locals stated that though Seema was mentally risky, but her behaviour was somewhat customary. “She by no means harmed any person. She was as calm as a Goddess,” stated Sujit, a neighborhood.
