GURUGRAM: A 28-year-old driver and his passenger were burnt alive inside a CNG retro-fitted Maruti Swift cab which burst into flames after a rushing truck rammed it from behind at Rajiv Chowk, on the Delhi-Gurugram limited-access highway, at round 3am on Sunday.
The fireplace activated the auto's central-locking gadget, trapping the occupants inside, police added. "The entire car was burnt. We could barely identify the dead. The car has been seized and will be sent to the forensic lab. Its manufacturer may also be asked to help us in the probe," stated an officer.
The driver used to be known as Manpreet, resident of Sheetla Mata Colony right here, but the identification of the passenger is yet to be established.
Cops brought out the 2 males from the auto and took them to Civil Hospital, where they were declared brought dead with over 95% burns.
Manpreet used to be partnering an app-based cab aggregator, and used to work mostly in the night time. "The cab was registered in his brother's name. He used to operate mostly at night," stated a relative. Other members of the family weren't prepared to talk.
It appears that the passenger, who used to be sitting in the back seat, had hiked a trip few kilometres from the accident web site. There used to be no hint of a trip being booked prior to the accident. The passenger, who used to be running with some private company in Gurugram, is more than likely from Jharkhand, but his identification is yet to be established.
"We've handed over Manpreet's body to his family. The identity of the second victim is yet to be confirmed," stated investigating officer ASI Manoj of Sadar police station, adding the auto used to be hit from behind on the gasoline tank and caught fireplace, and that no arrest has been made to this point. Police stated the reason for the hearth can be ascertained after the forensic effects.
Earlier, on March 30, a 56-year-old assets dealer used to be charred to dying inside his CNG-fitted car in Gurugram. Sube Singh used to be speaking to anyone on the telephone sitting inside his car with the AC on in front of his place of business in Garhi, when the vehicle caught fireplace. Then too, the door locks it seems that jammed from excessive heat, and Singh may just not come out.
Earlier, a charred frame of an unidentified individual used to be present in a car in Sector 59 on March 12. Passersby spotted the auto and alerted the hearth station and police. The gender and identification of the individual has not been showed yet.
In March 2017, a 22-year-old man used to be burnt alive and two of his friends gained burn injuries, when the auto they were travelling in, collided with a mini-truck on the Sohna-Faridabad road and caught fireplace.
