First silence zone list skips 40 critical spots

MUMBAI: Anti-noise activists have written to the surroundings division and the BMC stating 40 critical spots within the town disregarded of the first set of silence zones.

The BMC not too long ago known 110 silence zones for notification, chosen out of an older checklist of greater than 1,500 silence zones. In a letter to the surroundings division and the BMC, Awaaz Foundation convener Sumaira Abdulali mentioned: “The earlier checklist used to be known by means of ward workplaces across Mumbai in 2009 and subsequently added directly to in later years, after due process together with the process of session from voters and ALMs and ground degree id. All of those meet the factors and it is difficult to understand why any of them were disregarded in the latest checklist. This is particularly baffling for the reason that earlier lists are to be had as a very simple guide and leaving out any establishment would require a selected determination to that effect.”

Awaaz drafted a list of the 40 spots, mainly consisting of hospitals and educational institutes. Among those are KC College, Churchgate; Siddharth College, Fort; HR College, Churchgate; GD Somani School, Cuffe Parade; Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra; and St Andrews College, Bandra.
