'Lottery can create 10 lakh jobs, more state revenue '

NEW DELHI: Streamlining the regulatory and taxation construction for sale of lottery tickets can lend a hand garner further price range as much as Rs 50,000 crore for the exchequer, a lottery distributor has claimed.

Lottery sales are authorised in 3 states of the northeast - Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim - and different states like Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Punjab.


"In India, lotteries have the potential to contribute anywhere between Rs 35,000 crore and Rs 50,000 crore on an annual basis," Kamlesh Vijay, CEO of a state lottery distributor stated.


He added, "A streamlined structure for lottery sales has the potential to generate more than 10 lakh jobs."


The price range garnered through lotteries can be used for public welfare schemes and development of sports on the lines of the United States, the United Kingdom and China, he stated, adding that the Kerala executive has announced that useful resource mobilisation for a comprehensive well being scheme would be accomplished through lottery price range, he stated.
