Coimbatore: Various political parties and citizens hoisted black flags atop properties here on Thursday to check in their protest towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s consult with to Tamil Nadu.
Central committee member of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) G Ramakrishnan hoisted a black flag on the birthday celebration office and wore a black badge. He informed journalists that the central government has been suspending the formation of the Cauvery control board (CMB) due to political motive. It used to be glaring from the new appointments made within the universities across the state that the governor has been performing as the representative of the centre, he said, adding that the folks has chosen color black to precise their feelings. “At least now, the Union government should perceive the sentiments of the folks in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
Speaking concerning the youths committing suicide over the Cauvery issue, Ramakrishnan said that youths should join hands with the opposition parties when they are protesting in democratic method and no longer sacrifice their lifestyles.
Several citizens of Sidhapudhur, Ramanathapuram and Kuniyamuthur within the city hoisted black flags atop their properties to mark their opposition. DMK cadres in Pollachi released black balloons to mark the day.
