MUMBAI: Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), which is executing Metro III underground hall (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) has completed above 2 km of tunneling.
Metro III is 33.five km long course but it surely has to hold out tunneling duration of 54 km for Up and down hall. A MMRC spokesperson stated, "We have completed a total of 2192 meters of tunneling."
MMRC's managing director Ashwini Bhide stated, "It is indeed a milestone to complete more than 2kms of tunneling in a short span".
MMRC is the usage of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) at various launching shafts for tunnel building of Mumbai Metro Line III. The line III has thus far won eleven TBMs, out of which eight have been reduced and feature began main drives.
Bhide additional stated, "With 15 TBMs already having completed Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), we hope to have all the 17 TBMs running by July 2018."
At Azad Maidan launch shaft, the 2 TBMs will construct four.five km of tunnels up to Grant Road. These TBMs- Vaitarna 1 and a couple of have thus far completed 450 meters of tunnel.
At Naya Nagar the tunnel can be constructed for two.five km up to Dadar metro station. The TBMs Krishna 1 and a couple of, have tunnelled 1005 meters thus far.
Two more TBMs of package five will bore 2.98 km of tunnels up to CSIA Domestic Airport from Vidyanagsri Shaft. These TBMs Godavari 1 and a couple of have completed 342 meters of dull.
The TBMs, Vainganga 1 and a couple of launched from Marol Naka launch shaft have tunnelled 395 meters. This package will construct 1.2 km of tunnels upto CSIA international airport.
