MOSCOW: At least 350 people had been detained at opposition protests throughout Russia on Saturday, as police violently tried to disperse an unsanctioned rally in Moscow the use of tear gas, an unbiased monitor and AFP correspondents stated.
Top opposition chief Alexei Navalny, his ally Nikolai Lyaskin and a number of their supporters had been detained in Moscow as police more or less rounded up protesters, in step with AFP correspondents.
Independent tracking group OVD-Info stated more than 350 people had been detained by means of police nationwide.
