Bitcoin case: Amreli SP on remand till May 5

AHMEDABAD: A city periods courtroom on Tuesday granted further police remand until May 5 for Amreli SP, Jagdish Patel, in connection with the bitcoin extortion case. Patel was produced ahead of the courtroom after a week-long custodial interrogation by the CID (crime).

Patel was arrested remaining month for his suspected involvement in abduction and unlawful detention of Surat-based builder Shailesh Bhatt. His subordinates allegedly extorted and transferred 200 bitcoins from Bhatt’s industry spouse’s digital pockets, and demanded Rs 32 crore more for his release.


The probe agency sought after more time to interrogate him further on various sides of the alleged crime together with the path of Rs 1.32 crore that allegedly transferred hands of the cops.


Patel’s advocate vehemently opposed the call for and claimed that the investigators had wondered about the whole thing throughout the remand.


He additionally submitted that seven policemen had gone to the CID (crime) to give up, but the probe agency refused to take their custody.


This ended in heated arguments between attorneys in courtroom.
