Chennai: Con woman promising oil spill relief held

Chennai: Police on Monday arrested a lady on fees of cheating fisherwomen of 21,000, promising to get them reimbursement for the Ennore port oil spill that took place last year.

Police stated Amudha, 40, of Royapuram promised to get them the cash promised by the government after the crude oil spill that passed off on January 28, 2017, following a collision involving two shipment vessels close to Kamarajar Port in Ennore.


The spill had affected the livelihood of fishermen alongside the japanese coast from Ennore Port to Mahabalipuram, covering districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur. The government had a stated that a 141 crore had been accrued from the delivery firms involved, following which, she accrued 21,000 from fisherwomen, promising to get welfare aid. At least 30 girls lodged a complaint after she failed to stay her promise.
