COIMBATORE: With unauthorised hoardings mushrooming in the city again, civic activists have filed a petition with town corporation in search of action against the violators. In the remaining 15 days by myself, the corporation had got rid of about 168 such hoardings put in around the city.
Corporation officials stated that they've launched an intensive drive to remove illegal hoardings. “We got rid of a majority of these hoardings from residential areas. Several development owners had set them up with out getting no-objection certificate from the corporation and the police department,” an assistant the city making plans officer stated.
Corporation officials stated that since October 2016, as many as 1,198 hoardings had been got rid of from the east zone, 2,247 from the west zone, 1,006 from north zone, 158 from south zone and 1,805 from central zone. “A complete of 6,414 hoardings had been got rid of and we are continuing the drive,” he advised TOI.
As in step with norms, those who need to arrange an advertisement hoarding must get permission from several departments whether it is on government buildings. To arrange temporary hoardings, an application must be submitted to the revenue divisional officer/sub-collector involved, enclosing the NOC from the development proprietor or AEE/ADE (for government buildings), NOC from the police station involved and the challan for payment of licence price for 15 days ahead of the erection of the hoarding. After scrutiny of the applying, permission would be granted for erecting the hoarding for a most of six days. The revenue earned is shared by way of the corporation and the district management.
Real property companies and condo owners still install hoardings alongside city roads and inside their campuses with out getting permission, civic activist SP Thiyagarajan stated. “Apart from causing highway injuries and site visitors violations, the illegal hoardings result in massive revenue loss to the government,” he stated.
