BHUBANESWAR: A joint operation by Bhubaneswar and West Bengal police on Thursday resulted in the arrest of Alik Chakrabarty, a most sought after leader of small Maoist outfit CPI (ML) (Red Star) in West Bengal, from a non-public health facility in here.

Commissioner of police Y B Khurania mentioned Alik was sought after in over 70 cases in West Bengal. “We have been knowledgeable about his movements by Bengal police. Their body of workers had been tenting here for previous few days. We arrested him from Kalinga Hospital the place he had come for treatment. He was not admitted to the health facility. Our body of workers arrested him minutes after he reached the health facility,” Khurania advised TOI.
