Cuttack boy tops combined defence services exam

BHUBANESWAR: Debasis Sarangi, from Nimala of Cuttack district, has crowned the blended defence products and services (CDS) exam, 2017, the result of that have been printed on Wednesday.
Debasis has crowned the lists for selection to the Air Force Academy and the Indian Naval Academy, and has come 2nd within the merit list for the Indian Military Academy.

"I will choose the Air Force, though I find all three equally exciting," Debasis instructed TOI.

This used to be Debasis's first attempt at the exam. He graduated with a BTech level in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, this yr.

"I don't find any reason not to join the Air Forces. It's exciting, honourable and glorious," he mentioned.


He had been getting ready for the CDS for the past three years. "I had appeared for NDA four times but could not make it. I was determined to crack the CDS. Apart from following a disciplined routine, I read books on personality development," mentioned the 20-year-old.


Debasis' father Prafulla and mother Suchitra Dash are each lecturers. The eldest of 3 siblings will be the first in his prolonged circle of relatives to join defence.


A total of 192 candidates certified for admission to the 145th Course of the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun, the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, and the Air Force Academy at Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course.
