Delhi: 2 paid Rs 7.4 cr to mine bitcoins, duped

NEW DELHI: A probe has been started against master conman Amit Bhardwaj for duping two businessman of Rs 4.4 crore and Rs 3 crore, respectively, on the pretext of promoting them Bitcoin mining set-ups. The businessmen had been promised 150% returns in lieu of their investment.


Bhardwaj, a resident of Shalimar Bagh, was arrested by Pune Police from IGI airport in April. He is estimated to having duped over eight,000 other folks of round Rs 2,000 crore. His title had earlier cropped up within the investigation performed by Cyber Cell after they had busted a cryptocurrency gang run by two men, Kamal Singh and Vijay Kumar, who had duped round 2,500 other folks.

In a contemporary criticism, a sufferer, who has an export firm at Barakhamba Road, stated that Bhardwaj introduced himself as a trader who dealt in gold, diamonds and Bitcoin with experience in getting just right returns on investments. The sufferer then introduced his father and brother to him.

“To win my self belief, Bhardwaj introduced me to at least one Rajesh, who he claimed had collaborated with him to obtain a gold mine in Guinea, Latin America. He also confirmed some papers in this regard. After a couple of conferences, he introduced to switch shares held by them within the mine,” the sufferer stated.

The crooks also produced a solid share-purchase agreement. When the sufferer confirmed passion, the accused gave him a “better” offer. Claiming to be mavens in Bitcoin mining, the crooks informed the sufferer to invest in it. The sufferer had no wisdom about cryptocurrency and sought additional information. He was informed that the virtual foreign money gave 100-150% returns on investments.


The sufferer was made to talk to several “purchasers”, who supposedly were given considerable returns. “It later got here to the fore that these other folks had been participants of the Bhardwaj gang,” an officer stated.


When the sufferer were given suspicious, the accused began keeping off his calls and assembly him. The sufferer then approached police. A case has been filed and cops will seek Bhardwaj’s custody for arresting him in cases relating Delhi.


Bhardwaj ran firms and websites within the title of Variable PTE restricted, GB Miners and gainbitcoin.com. Also, his members of the family and he had been directors in firms like Bitex Services, Coinbank, Paybits, Mcap labs and Redox Infotech, which dealt in Bitcoin mining and trading.
