CHENNAI: The city police on Tuesday arrested a repeat culprit for planting 1.2kg of ganja in a automobile to border a riding faculty proprietor for refusing to bribe a motor automobile inspector in a conspiracy so implausibly dopey that investigators may well be forgiven for pondering the perpetrators smoked one of the crucial drug themselves.

A police team seizes the contraband from the auto

On April 17, an investigating officer said, the Abiramapuram police station gained an anonymous tip about ganja being smuggled in Madhav’s automobile. A PSI and a constable searched the auto and found 1.2kg of ganja in it.


“Madhav used to be visibly shocked that the police had seized the contraband,” the officer said. Investigators led by Kotturpuram assistant commissioner K N Sudharshan discovered that digital camera footage from the riding faculty showed Sathya way Madhav’s automobile on a motorbike and drop the ganja in the automobile.


Detained for wondering, Sathya said Muthukrishnan, of the Foreshore Estate police, had coerced him into the plot at the behest of Arunkumar a motor automobile inspector at the Mandaiveli RTO place of job. “Madhav refused to bribe Arunkumar to signal papers at the RTO,” the officer said. “He additionally formed a syndicate of riding faculty house owners to dam bribes to the inspector. This angered Arunkumar and he asked Muthukrishnan, to assist him to take revenge on Madhav.”


The police may soon arrest Arunkumar and Muthukrishnan, he said.
