LUDHIANA: Two males of their early 20s have been arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to rape in combination two minors, aged 3 and 6, in a village close to here.
The accused and the minors reside in the same building, whose proprietor has leased out small rooms on hire. The accused hail from Nepal. While one among them is aged 22 and works as a waiter for a caterer, the opposite is aged 20 and is a cook dinner with the same employer.
The duo have been stuck within the act, after the mother of the six-year-old girl raised the alarm and neighbours broke open the door in their room. In her police grievance, the woman alleged that she used to be cooking dinner round 9.30pm on Tuesday when she noticed that her daughter used to be not round.
As she stepped out of the room, she noticed the 20-year-old accused dashing into his room. When she attempted to open the door of his space, it used to be locked from within. She then knowledgeable neighbours, who broke the door.
She alleged that they saw the two accused looking to one after the other rape each of the minors. The duo, however, controlled to power their approach out of the crowd that had collected at that time.
The lady then knowledgeable the police, following which the accused have been charged with sections 376 (rape), 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for lifestyles), and 34 (acts finished through a number of persons in furtherance of not unusual intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under sections 7 and eight of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The investigating officer (IO), assistant sub-inspector Madhu Bala, mentioned they arrested the duo close to a petroleum pump on Ferozepur Road. “We gets the accused medically examined on the civil hospital here. The ladies were not examined as their families did not need them to head go through them,” she mentioned. “We have counselled the children. The older on research in nursery.”
