Farmers corner UP excise and prohibition minister Jai Pratap Singh

GREATER NOIDA: Farmers of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), sitting on dharna over their five-point demands on the collectorate in Surajpur, cornered UP excise and prohibition minister Jai Pratap Singh (also in-charge of district Gautam Budh Nagar) on Wednesday and did not depart regardless of assurances by means of the minister to take their demands ahead to chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

The farmers' demands include 64.7 % further reimbursement for his or her farmland and 10 % further reimbursement for residential plots as promised by means of the UP government, designated acquisition fee for the plots received from farmers since 1976 to 1997 underneath kisan (farmer's) quota, further tax to the farmers of Jaganpur, Afzalpur, Atta Fatehpur and Dankaur villages falling underneath the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) that are still pending even after 4 years regardless of YEIDA taking on the land of those villages utterly underneath it and amenities for children and households of those villages with a clampdown on loot by means of private schools and hospitals in those spaces.


“Members of Bhartiya Kisan Union from around the district Gautam Budh Nagar were sitting on a protest at more than a few locations in Noida and Greater Noida including both authority offices. They have raised their demands at all ranges from district magistrate to MLAs and chief minister. Yet there's no redress for them,” said Naresh Sharma on behalf of BKU.


While minister Jai Pratap Singh assured to take their problems to chief minister Yogi Adityanath in the presence of Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh and district magistrate BN Singh, he urged the farmers’ delegation to finish their protest. However, the farmers refused to conform and persevered their sit-in dharna on the collectorate after handing their petition to the minister.


“We will continue to protest regardless of the warmth and scorching solar until our demands are fulfilled. This time the farmers may not be fooled easily by means of the authority or district management. On May 28 we will be able to hold another Maha panchayat and will make certain that the street would no longer be simple for the authority,” said a determined Surendra Pradhan from BKU.
