SURAT: Two staff sustained critical burn injuries when fireplace broke out in a chemical unit situated within the phase-2 of Vapi GIDC on Saturday.
Source within the Vapi GIDC’s fireplace division said that the fireplace broke out at about 12 pm at Anand enterprise situated in phase-2. Three fireplace tenders were pressed into provider to keep watch over the fireplace within the chemical unit.
The fireplace, according to fireplace officers, broke out following an explosion within the solvent barrel within the unit because of short circuit. The fireplace spread unexpectedly in all of the unit forcing the employees to hurry out. However, two staff were trapped inside the unit and that they were rescued by the fireplace warring parties later.
Talking to TOI, assistant fireplace officer of Vapi GIDC phase-2, DN Waghela said, "The fire was in the chemical unit and it might be due to short circuit and explosion in the solvent barrel. It took more than two hours to cool off the entire unit".
Waghela knowledgeable that the 2 staff had sustained critical injuries and that they were shifted to the Haria health facility in Vapi the town. The situation of each the employees is said to be crucial.
