NEW DELHI: The Delhi top court docket has slammed Delhi University for committing a "serious lapse" in preparation of the listing to award gold medal in Sociology and directed it to offer the gold medal to a former scholar who had secured the best possible marks.
Justice Rekha Palli directed the Delhi University to straight away award the "Kunda Datar Gold Medal" to its 2012-2014 batch scholar Pratichi Majumdar, who had scored 999 out of one,600 marks.
The top court docket stated the college has didn't discharge its duties by means of depriving a meritorious scholar just like the petitioner of the gold medal which she deserved.

Majumdar was a scholar of Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, who had passed the MA (Sociology) path from the Department of Sociology in August 2014.
In her plea, she contended that the result of the 2014 MA (Sociology) was to start with declared on June 2, 2014, in which one Sophia Zehra Abbas was declared to have secured 977 out of one,600 marks.
The result of Majumdar and many different scholars have been shown as 'Result Later'.
