CHENNAI: After the Supreme Court refused to stick the CBI probe into the gutkha scam, the DMK and the PMK on Friday sought after Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to drop well being minister C Vijaya Baskar and director basic of police T K Rajendran from their posts.
In a statement, DMK working president M K Stalin stated the names of the well being minister and the director basic of police were discussed in the case.
"The health minister and the DGP are accused of having received money for allowing gutkha to be sold in the state. Gutkha causes cancer," stated Stalin.
PMK leader S Ramadoss sought after the CBI to start out the probe immediately. "Now that the Supreme Court has refused to stay the CBI probe, health minister and DGP continuing in their posts is big shame. The chief minister must immediately remove them from their posts," Ramadoss stated in a statement.
