HYDERABAD: After days of combating extreme warmth, citizens heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday, as surprising showers accompanied through thunderstorm and gusty winds lashed several parts of the city, bringing the temperature right down to 21 level Celsius through night time. In previous couple of days, Hyderabad’s average temperature has been soaring around 40-42 level Celsius.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) knowledge, spaces below the GHMC limits recorded a total rainfall of 43.55 mm over a span of a few hours, whilst remoted pockets in Secunderabad witnessed hailstorm.

The spaces that received maximum rain integrated Ibhrahimpatnam (71.5 mm), Hayathnagar (58.three mm), Monda Market (43.5 mm) and Uppal (42.8 mm). Areas reminiscent of Madhapur, Balanagar, Jubilee Hills, Narayanaguda, Golconda, Nampally, LB Nagar and Bandlaguda also witnessed robust and gusty winds of up to 20 kmph.

Meteorologists at Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, attributed surprising downpour to upper cyclonic stream and trough formation over Telangana. “There are two upper cyclonic circulations that are passing throughout the Telangana, north Odisha and Vidarbha area. There could also be a trough extending from Vidarbha to Lakshawadeep space across Marathwada and Karnataka. These two phenomenon together resulted in rainfall across Telangana,” said Raja Rao, meteorologist at IMD, Hyderabad.

Experts said thunderstorm activity and gusty winds will proceed to lash remoted spaces across all districts even on Friday. Light to average rains are anticipated to proceed for subsequent 24 hours. “While thunderstorm and rainfall activity will proceed even on Friday, the temperature will upward push as soon as the upper air cyclonic stream over Telangana weakens,” said Rao.
