Indian national dies in fall from Yosemite's Half Dome trail in US

NEW YORK: A 29-year-old Indian nationwide fell to his demise while ascending Yosemite National Park's well-known Half Dome path, america National Park Service has said.

Asish Penugonda, who lived in New York City, used to be climbing with friends up the steep north facet of Half Dome within the park when he slipped from the cables and fell to his demise, his roommate and shut pal used to be quoted as saying by means of the Mercury News.

The hiker used to be on the path's Half Dome cables, the park carrier said in a statement. He used to be climbing with another person during thunderstorm job round when he slipped and fell.

The cables take hikers up the final 400 toes to the summit of Half Dome, which rises nearly five,000 toes above California's Yosemite Valley.


Park Rangers had been notified that the hiker had slipped and fallen from the popular climbing course, the statement said.


Rangers arrived on the scene and equipped assistance to the second hiker.


The Yosemite National Park Rangers recovered the victim's frame final Tuesday.


Asish used to be a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked as a biochemist with Siemens Healthcare, New Jersey. He used to be a native of Andhra Pradesh.


His friends have created a 'Go Fund Me' campaign to lend a hand pay for his funeral in Fremont, transport of his frame house to India, and assistance to his mother and elder brother, the document said.


This is the first fatality since 2011 from the cables up the granite dome and the first visitor fatality in 2018, in line with data from Yosemite National Park.


Half Dome is a granite dome on the japanese end of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park, California. It is a well known rock formation within the park, named for its distinct form.


The slope of the Half Dome cables, that are 200 yards long, is about 45 levels.
