Karnataka polls: Sreeramulu on a sprint campaign across the state

On the narrow unpaved roads of Molakalmuru, B Sreeramulu’s convoy kicks up much dust. It is literally a whirlwind campaign. The Ballari MP stops at small villages where a few ranking other people have amassed and drives off.

Starting the campaign at Rampur, the convoy winds throughout parched villages of Chitradurga. The convoy does now not forestall for greater than two minutes at every village. “I've been travelling across the state up to now week campaigning for BJP applicants. And as of late, I squeezed in some time to campaign right here,” Sreeramulu said.

Sreeramulu, projected because the birthday party’s deputy leader minister, has been requested via his birthday party to campaign in 80 constituencies but even so the two he's contesting from — Molakalmuru and Badami. “The birthday party has thrust a huge duty on me,” he said. By projecting Sreeramulu as a candidate for the deputy leader minister post, the BJP is eyeing the Scheduled Tribe votes in Chitradurga, Ballari and different portions of North Karnataka.

The DM Nanjundappa Committee Report on regional imbalances phrases Molakalmuru as one of the backward taluks of Karnataka. On the path, Sreeramulu promised villagers water from the Upper Bhadra undertaking. “I want to develop this district,” said he.

At one level, his convoy was once a mere 10 km clear of Hanagal village, where his good friend and mentor G Janardhana Reddy is tenting. There was once no trace of Reddy within the campaign. BJP workers printed that Reddy were directed to stay away.

Unperturbed via the birthday party’s determination to stay Reddy clear of the campaign, Sreeramulu said he has no dispute with birthday party president Amit Shah’s stand. “Janardhana Reddy is my formative years good friend and he's supporting me out of goodwill. If the birthday party president says that Reddy has no association with the BJP, he's absolutely proper. But if an individual is working as a birthday party worker, can anyone forestall?” he requested.

About S Thippeswamy, the man the BJP displaced to nominate Sreeramulu from Molkalmuru, and who has rebelled, Sreeramulu said, “I haven't any personal enmity with Thippeswamy. He has executed good work up to now 5 years. But birthday party leaders determined to field me in Molakalmuru with an goal that it's going to give a boost to the BJP in Central Karnataka,” he said.

Hisassociation with Reddy brothers and the potential of a destructive image because of this connection does now not trouble Sreeramulu. “I've a clean image and haven't any industry pursuits. As a mass leader, I've the capability to win in any constituency in Karnataka,” he claimed.

Back in Molakalmuru the city, Thippeswamy, who's contesting as an unbiased, has no good words for Sreeramulu. “He has breached the promise of having me the BJP price ticket and is now shamelessly contesting from my constituency. The breach of trust will never be pardoned,” he thundered.

Thippeswamy sees the entry of Sreeramulu and Janardhana Reddy into Chitradurga district as a ploy to smash the district’s terrain. “Now that they are executed with iron ore mining in Ballari, their consideration is diverted to this citadel district. I inform those who should you vote him (Sreeramulu) to power, he and Reddy will harm our district too via enticing in mining. This is an alarm bell. Send him back to where he came from,” said Thippeswamy.

Back on Sreermulu’s trail, villagers seem not sure after the convoy breezes away. Carrying the BJP’s flag and wearing a saffron hat, GS Honneswamy, a farmer in Kada Siddapura village says he's no supporter of the birthday party. “They gave us the flag and I am just carrying it. I might do this for any candidate who visits my village,” he said.
