SHIVAMOGGA: The Hunter Bajwa, a pro-Pakistan cyber workforce, claimed it hacked the web site of state-run Kuvempu University at Shankaraghatta in Shivamogga.
On its Facebook web page, the Hunter Bajwa claimed that it had hacked the college web site in the morning. It was once posted round 10am Monday.
The incident came to the knowledge of college government a few minutes later. According to sources, after hacking the college home web page, hackers posted pro-Pakistan slogan on the web site and a some warning messages on cybersecurity. Vice-chancellor Jogan Shankar confirmed the incident and said the college IT workforce sorted out the issues inside 15 minutes.
"They were ready to hack best the house web page. The issue came to our wisdom in the morning and our IT workforce immediately took corrective measures. Within 15 minutes, it was once ready to restore the house web page. No information or data was once stolen and the web site is now working generally,” he said.
According to college government, the issue was once brought to the notice of the cyber police wing of district police. "We have lodged a police grievance," said Shankar. He added that no information was once compromised and it’s not a major threat because the college has taken all precautionary measures.
Interestingly, Kuvempu University isn't the one college hacked by means of this workforce. According to its FB web page, they have hacked more than 980 internet sites, mostly Indian.
According to sources, the IP address as well as different data associated with the hackers, isn't available as they operate from an unknown position.
Shivakumar, a techie from Shivamogga, said these hackers are widely recognized to cybersecurity experts. "They’re known for hacking home pages. But they have not been ready to thieve any information from internet sites they have hacked," he said.
