BENGALURU: Fear continues to grip a number of districts of Karnataka, 25 days after a faux video on child-lifters first surfaced, pushing weapon-wielding mobs to attack other people on mere suspicion.
Though the police division has been reiterating that the video is fake, at least 90 innocents were assaulted across the state, whilst a 26-year-old man was once lynched in Bengaluru.
On Friday, three women garment manufacturing unit employees in Vijayanagara Gutte, close to Whitefield, were locked up by way of a mob. Jurisdictional police, who rushed to the spot and rescued them, registered a case.
Similar incidents were reported in Pulikeshinagar, Shivajinagar and Bharathinagar spaces in Bengaluru at the intermediary evening of Thursday and Friday. “Police rescued 12 other people, together with three women in these spaces on Thursday evening, and registered two cases against the mob for allegedly assaulting innocents,” police commissioner T Suneel Kumar stated.
The indiscriminate assaults have induced police to ebook at least 72 cases, and arrest 46 other people, together with the 16 hooked up with the Bengaluru lynching. Four extra were arrested in Cottonpet on Thursday evening for beating up beggars.
