Mylapore moans about bad roads, but to no avail

CHENNAI: Residents of Mylapore have complained for 3 months about the abject situation of a very powerful roads in the locality, butthecorporation has not yet taken any motion to improvethesethoroughfares.

Residents have pointed to damaged roads — similar to RK Mutt Road, Solaiappan Street, South Mada Street-Venkatesa Agraharam Junction — that many motorists use each day. They have fretted on Greater Chennai Corporation helplines (together with 1917) and cell utility and by means of e mail about the battered tops of these roads but the civic frame is yet to reply, they said.


“There are many roads in wards 124 and 125 of Mylapore which want immediate attention,” said C R Balaji, a Mylapore resident. “Among the roads in essentially the most dire situation is RK Mutt Road, which has been in a nasty state since Metrowater worktofix a leak in a pipeline near North Mada Street.Wehave made several representations to the company for the past three months, however to no avail.”


Another resident said Kesavaperumal South Street, near Gandhi Statue in Mylapore, is furrowed and potholed.


“The civic frame did some shoddy patch-work and stuffed teh damaged best with cement, making the street asymmetric,” he said. “It is hard and dangerous to drive on this stretch.”


An organization legit liable for the zone said the bus route roads department has been knowledgeable. “The roads might be repaired soon,” he said.
