CHANDIGARH: The sanitation employees in Haryana, who have been on protest for the previous two weeks, called off their protest on Thursday after the state govt conceded to most in their calls for, together with build up in wage and allowances.
The sanitation employees ended their 16-day strike after a meeting of employees' union with urban native bodies' minister Kavita Jain and minister of state for welfare of scheduled castes and backward categories Krishan Kumar Bedi.
The leader minister's media adviser Rajiv Jain and primary secretary R K Khullar have been also present within the assembly.
Minister Jain stated all employees interested in sanitation and sewerage related works can be paid Rs 13,500 monthly wage. She added that another kind of allowances would even be paid to those employees.
Similarly, the government has also agreed to the sanitation employees' calls for, together with abolition of outsourcing coverage and to take steps in implementation of equivalent pay for equivalent work.
Around five,000 staff of municipal department within the state and around 25,000 sanitation employees have been on strike for the previous around 14 days. The strike had forced residents to are living amid lots of garbage and stink.
The major demand of these protesting sanitation employees was once implementation of equivalent pay for equivalent work, abolition of outsourcing device for all employees together with the ones engaged in sewerage related works and regularisation of services of transient staff.
Initially, the sanitation employees started a three-day strike on May 9.
Three days later, they determined to increase the strike till May 14 and on May 17, they went on an indefinite strike after the talks with the government failed to yield certain outcome.
Prior to Thursday's assembly, talks between the state govt and the representatives of the placing staff on previous two events had failed.
