Hubballi: Whenever BJP has come to energy, its time table has been to change the Constitution and take away amenities given to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, alleged former Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

He told journalists here on Friday that the modification dropped at the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in 2016 is an example sooner than the nation. “Only after the Bharat Bandh was called that the Centre determined to record a review petition in the Supreme Court that banned automatic arrests and registration of legal cases beneath the act,” he said.

Shinde alleged that on one side, BJP says it worships the Constitution however on the other it acts towards it. He also alleged that the employment of Dalits was reduced greatly in the central government. “BJP does now not need SCs, STs and backward categories folks to get educated. It wants that these categories stay uneducated,” he added.


Former Union minister Mukul Wasnik alleged that the poor, underprivileged, Dalits, Adivasis and minorities don't seem to be given an opportunity to are living existence with dignity beneath the BJP rule. “More than 47,000 cases have been registered in 2016 beneath the SC, ST Act, 1989. Six Dalit girls are raped on a daily basis. Twelve atrocity cases are registered every unmarried day. This means that these sections of the society are disadvantaged of elementary rights provided beneath the Constitution. Unfortunately in today’s India those that are sworn to administrative center in the identify of the Constitution are posing some of the serious threats and demanding situations to the Constitution,” he said.
