Tasmac to reopen 815 outlets

CHENNAI: Following a Supreme Court order permitting the state government to reopen about 800 liquor shops along highways, the Tasmac management has asked district managers to spot outlets that “don't pose a danger”.
During a gathering convened on Friday, Tasmac basic managers suggested district managers to spot outlets, within the jurisdiction of native bodies, which meet norms laid down via a government order.

Tasmac shops will reopen on highways with a bypass street to ease site visitors. The shops will also be reopened on highways that start and finish inside a corporation, municipality, the city panchayat and other native bodies.

Outlets may also be opened on sections of freeway that reach to city roads. Outlets may also be allowed inside business spaces designated for construction.

The state government had shut down round 3,000 Tasmac outlets after the apex courtroom dominated liquor shops will can't serve as along state and national highways. The the state government later reopened round 1,700 outlets on highways stretches inside native bodies. About 1,300 shops were closed earlier this month when a public interest litigation identified that Tasmac had violated a Supreme Court order.

After shutting down 1,300 outlets, the state government appealed in the apex courtroom. The courtroom on Wednesday dominated that the state would possibly reopen liquor shops if they do not violate its earlier order. Last month, in its order, the Madras prime courtroom noticed that the state government had opened 1,700 shops final 12 months thru a round, without the person consent of all district creditors.

While Tasmac has begun work to spot round 815 outlets, it's only prone to open them later in view of the anti-Sterlite protests.
