CHENNAI: Unreserved tickets issued at all railway stations in Tamil Nadu will give main points printed in Tamil, besides in Hindi and English. In Kerala, it's going to be in Malayalam besides in Hindi and English.
The Southern Railway introduced on Friday that the unreserved tickets generated through UTS (unreserved ticketing device), automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs) and coin operated ticket vending machines (CoTVMs) will print tickets which can point out the originating and destination stations in trilingual layout (English, Hindi and the regional language – Tamil or Malayalam).
"This is expected to be a major convenience for unreserved passengers over the Southern Railway. Due to the multiple models of ticketing machines installed over the years in different locations, a few of the counters may still issue tickets in bilingual format. This technical issue will be sorted out shortly by replacing the old machines with new ones," Southern Railway stated in an reliable statement.
A couple of weeks ago, the Southern Railway offered this facility at 5 stations in Tamil Nadu and four stations in Kerala.
