LUDHIANA: An afternoon after a 40-year-old girl used to be arrested for the murder of her aged better half's mother, police said she had promised to pay Rs 50,000 to her pal and her associate to execute the killing.
Surjeet Kaur, 70, used to be found brutally murdered at her area in Company Bagh on Tibba Road on Monday. An afternoon later, police arrested Jyoti — Surjeet Kaur’s daughter-in-law — her pal Barkha and their associate Rajveer Kashyap for committing the crime.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP IV) Rajveer Singh said, “Jyoti had promised to pay Rs 50,000 to Barkha and Rajveer. She advised them that she would make the cost from Surjeet’s cash and keep her jewellery for herself. The weapon used within the crime has been recovered.”
Police said Surjeet Kaur and Jyoti rarely loved cordial members of the family. Fed up of her scoldings, Jyoti, along with Barkha and Rajveer, hatched the murder plan.
Jyoti met Rajveer through Barkha, who lives in her neighbourhood. “Jyoti’s name records confirmed that she had referred to as up Barkha and Rajveer right away after the brutal attack on her better half's mother. She spilled the beans during interrogation,” said a cop.
The murder case used to be lodged at the grievance of Manjeet Singh, son of Surjeet Kaur.
