LUDHIANA: A 3-member police staff got here under mob assault when it had long gone to arrest 3 homicide accused at Dheri village in Meharban house past due on Thursday night time. Importantly, all accused in the case escaped the spot after cops had been overpowered by means of more than 10 people.
By past due Thursday night, police had booked 15 people and arrested two of them.
Angrej Singh and his two sons — Sukha and Gaggu — had been sought after for the homicide of a 19-year-old Amritpal Singh of Sujatwal, who was overwhelmed to loss of life on April 7 over a petty issue of water accumulation in the street.
Sub-inspector Davinder Sharma, SHO, Meharban police station, mentioned ASI Joginder Pal along side constable Harpal Singh and residential guard Jawan Bakhshish Singh carried out the raid at Dheri to arrest Angrej Singh and his two sons on Thursday night time.
The police had even nabbed the accused from their space. But when the police staff was leaving the village, the accused raised an alarm and called their accomplices for lend a hand. Following this, the relations of Angrej reached the spot and attacked the police staff. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused fled.
After returning to the police station, cops registered an FIR against Angerj Singh, his two sons and relations Ghanayiya and Gurpreet Singh, besides 10 unidentified accomplices under Sections of 353 (attack or felony pressure to deter public servant from discharge of his accountability), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 225 (resistance or obstruction to lawful apprehension of someone else), 332(voluntarily inflicting hurt to deter public servant from his accountability) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint ) of the IPC and later arrested two accused — Ghanayiya and Gurpreet Singh — from the village.
The SHO mentioned the police had introduced a manhunt to arrest the remainder of the accused.
