AMBALA: The officers of district kid coverage place of business (DCPO) and kid welfare committee (CWC) on Tuesday struggled to seek out accommodation for 14 kids working as labourers whom that they had rescued after raiding nine puts within the town.
The officers knocked the doorways of open house safe haven in Ambala and kid helpline government but have been denied area.
The groups needed to fight all the day and later within the night at 11pm, the kids have been in the end accommodated in Punjabi Gurdwara in Ambala Cantonment for the night. Two contributors of CWC and two police officers have been deployed at the gurdwara for their safety.
On May 24, the district kid welfare place of business wrote to kid welfare commitee and district kid coverage place of business and said that due to ongoing development paintings of bogs at the open house safe haven, it would get difficult to supply accommodation to any kid.
Therefore, the place of business demanded 15 days for the same. After the 15-day period was over, any other 15 days have been asked. It was discovered that the paintings was still in limbo, following which the groups struggled to supply safe haven to the rescued kids.
"As per the Juvenile Justice Act, an open home shelter cannot deny entry to children, come what may," mentioned Gurdev Singh, member of DCWC.
"We understand that the DCWO had demanded some time, but the construction work has already taken very long. If construction of toilets was the major concern, they could have setup mobile toilets there," he added.
"DCPO is responsible for the child care institutions and should have back up options," mentioned DCWO Milan Pandit
Meanwhile, at the complaint of Puneet Sharma, state coordinator, kid coverage, other instances have been registered towards five accused industry owners below Sections 370 (purchasing or disposing of somebody as a slave), 374 (illegal compulsory labour) of the Indian Penal Code, and Sections 75 (punishment for cruelty to kid), 79 (exploitation of a child employee) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act at Ambala Cantonment police station.
Similar, three different industry owners have been booked at Parao police station below Section 3, 14 of Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 370 (purchasing or disposing of somebody as a slave), 75 (punishment for cruelty to kid), 79 (exploitation of a child employee) of the Juvenile Justice Act.
