Bank manager booked for forging signature

LUDHIANA: The branch supervisor of a private financial institution’s branch in Thareeke has been booked for allegedly forging the signature of a 50-year-old woman customer for transferring Rs 75,000 from her bank account towards the cost of a lifestyles insurance policy.
The Thareeke branch supervisor of Axis Bank, Nidhi Thakur, has been charged with cheating and forgery. The case used to be registered towards her at Sarabha Nagar police station on Sunday.

According to police, the FIR has been registered after an intensive preliminary probe into accusations levelled by means of Inderpreet Kaur, a resident of Barewal Awana. In her grievance to the police, Inderpreet had alleged that she had stored Rs 75,000 in her bank account.


In July remaining year, she despatched her husband to get a remark of transactions from the financial institution. When she checked the record, she discovered that Rs 75,000 had been debited from her account and paid towards a lifestyles insurance policy.


When she enquired, she found out that someone had forged her signature to buy the coverage and transfer the cash out of her account. The accused had also used a forged reproduction of her PAN card for the same.


The woman had lodged a police grievance remaining year. The SHO of Sarabha Nagar police station, inspector Brij Mohan, said that they had investigated into the subject and located the involvement of a financial institution worker. The police had been yet to arrest the accused when this record used to be filed.
