MUMBAI: Work at the Mumbai-Nagpur throughway, which is expected to chop travel time between the cities by 10 hours, might start soon—the state’s highway construction company has finalised the bottom bidders for 13 of the 16 major contracts at the Rs 45,000-cr challenge.
Once work orders are issued, it'll be the most important ever highway challenge awarded in India. The largest awarded so far (in packages) have been Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmed abad (650 km) and Narasinghpur-Chhindwara-Nagpur and Nagpur-Betul (421 km), each underneath the UPA.
The 700-km Mumbai-Nagpur hall, touted as a “tremendous communique highway”, will run through 10 districts. On Thursday, MSRDC introduced the 13 lowest bids within the fray. Vice-chairman Radheshyam Mopalwar stated, “We shall now right away adopt the process of analysis of economic bidders. After the completion of due diligence in the next few days, we might issue work orders.”
Construction of the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, as the throughway is known, has been divided into 16 packages; the bidding procedure for three packages continues to be underway.
The state has so far obtained 80.25% of the nine,000-odd hectares required for the street, each private and government land, in opposition to a complete repayment of Rs four,788 crore, which was paid in opposition to acquisition of private land. Of the land required, 833.23 hectares is government-owned, which includes woodland land.
The highway is likely to cut travel time between Mumbai and Aurangabad to four hours and between Aurangabad and Nagpur to four hours. It will deliver 14 major vacationer destinations closer and allow the improvement of greater than 17 industry-based townships alongside the hall.
Maharashtra cupboard on May 29 licensed a tripartite concession settlement to be signed for the challenge. The settlement can be signed between MSRDC, state government and the special purpose vehicle arrange for the challenge.
The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure has licensed a greenfield alignment for the Expressway and the MSRDC was appointed the imposing company in 2015.
The preparation of a detailed challenge document is these days still on and fundraising from financial establishments may be in growth. Officials stated the final price of the challenge and the concessions to be given to contractors can be licensed by the state finance division.
