KOHIMA: Just months after its formation, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) wrested the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland from the Naga People’s Front (NPF), which held it for 14 years.
NDPP won the byelection to the seat by way of a decisive margin of 1,73,746 votes.
According to provisional figures, NDPP’s Tokheho Yepthomi, who was once the consensus candidate for the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) comprising NDPP and BJP, got 5,94,205 votes.
NPF candidate C Apok Jamir secured 4,20,459 votes.
