CHENNAI: A day of counselling and warning from law enforcement officials does not appear to have paid off at the end. Four days after police detained just about 100 students, a bunch of Pachaiyappa’s College students are at it once more. They hijacked an MTC bus – plying between Triplicane and Anna Nagar (24 G) -- near Anna Nagar on Friday and created a ruckus.
A gang of any other 20 students occupied the entire highway, following the bus on two-wheelers, hooting and scaring away motorists. They went on a procession, leaving no way for the other motorists to cross thru.
The hassle began at 2pm when round 150 students took over the MTC bus as soon as it halted near the college. Within mins, they boarded the bus. Some of them opened the ventilator door at the roof of the bus and climbed atop, destructive the roof.
When the motive force tried to stop the bus, they banged at the car, scaring passengers. When the motive force refused to drive the bus and got down, the students determined to take to the wheel. Several passengers got down and walked.
Unable to position up with the student’s mayhem, the conductor alerted police who got here in after 30 mins. Sensing hassle, the students escaped.
"They did not let any passenger board the bus. They scared away pedestrians and women on two-wheelers," said device engineer Nivedha.
