CHENNAI: A fire broke out within the propulsion laboratory of the aerospace division in IIT-Madras on Tuesday morning, damaging pricey equipment. There was once no casualty.
The hearth broke out due to an electrical brief circuit in a junction box.
Security guards noticed the fire round 6.30am and informed the fire and rescue provider division. Fire tenders from Guindy and Raj Bhavan reached the spot.
Fire and rescue services workforce battled for nearly an hour to position out the blaze. They avoided it from spreading to other labs.
Fire workforce stated that the dept had a cluster of labs. "We prevented the fire from spreading to other labs. It would have been a major tragedy if the fire had not been put out in time" stated a fireman.
The Kotturpuram police registered a case and additional investigations were on.
