BHUBANESWAR: Railways will run trains between Balangir and Bhainsapalli, 15 km stretch of the Khurda Road-Balangir new rail line, by way of end of end of October this yr. Railway has started works from both the ends of the 289-km-long Khurda Road-Balangir railway line. It has completed only 66 km between Khurda Road and Nayagarh stations from Khurda Road side. It has also started work of 15 km from Balangir side in opposition to Bhainsapalli.

ECoR has already run trains between Khurda Road and Nayagarh within the new rail line from Khurda Road end. It has set a target to finish the undertaking by way of March 2021. The state government has formed a joint venture with the Ministry of Railways to hold out the undertaking.


Pradhan said the state government must speed up the land acquisition work to finish the 289-km Khurda-Balangir new line undertaking. “If the state government completes the land acquisition process this yr, Railways will whole the brand new rail line undertaking inside of two years,” he added.


He said work from Sonepur end will start very soon. He reviewed the progress on Paradip-Haridaspur rail line, work for which has picked up tempo. “Kendrapada shall see its train service by way of the tip of this yr. Line as much as Paradip will likely be ready in less than a yr's time,” he added.


Pradhan said Odisha had gained Rs 4,190 crore between 2009-10 and 2013-14, however the allocation greater to Rs 20,213 between 2014-15 and 2018-19.
