Gauri Lankesh case: Naveen ready for narco test

BENGALURU: Naveen Kumar, the first accused in journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh’s homicide case, is ready to go through narco analysis test equipped it's achieved as prescribed by legislation, his counsel A Vedamurthy has said.

Earlier in March, the Special Investigating Team probing the homicide had taken Naveen to the forensic science laboratory in Ahmedabad for the narco analysis test. Naveen, who had agreed to go through the test to begin with, backed off.


Vedamurthy instructed TOI that he would post an application to courtroom in this regard on Thursday. “In the application, I will be able to mention that Naveen is ready to go through the test, equipped SIT and FSL staff apply the information. According to the information, recommend of the accused undergoing the test should be provide within the FSL. If SIT has the same opinion to our plea, we're ready,” he said.


On June 25, periods pass judgement on Ramalinge Gowda had questioned why Naveen, who first agreed before a courtroom to go through the test, refused after police took him to the FSL in Ahmedabad. Vedamurthy had said the SIT had no longer knowledgeable Naveen’s lawyers when they took him for the test.


In all, six folks have been arrested within the Gauri homicide case, and all the accused are recently in judicial custody.
