India hopes to open Iran's Chabahar port by 2019

NEW DELHI: India is making an attempt to make Chabahar Port in Iran operational via 2019, the government mentioned in a commentary on Friday, regardless of a risk of renewed US sanctions towards Tehran.

The Indian-backed Chabahar port advanced in Iran is being evolved as part of a new transportation corridor for land-locked Afghanistan that would probably open the way for thousands and thousands of bucks in business and cut its dependence on Pakistan, its sometimes-hostile neighbour.

The port would provide easy accessibility to CIS nations, Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari mentioned within the commentary.

US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from a 2015 nuclear deal and penalise monetary institutions for doing trade with Tehran is clouding Chabahar's viability.
