India, Thailand to kick off military exercise this August

NEW DELHI: In the series of joint bilateral workouts between India and Thailand, both countries have once again come together to foster the spirit of friendship and make stronger the strategic army dating to the following stage.

The joint exercise code-named "MAITREE-2018" is scheduled to happen in Mueang, Chachoengsao Province, Thailand between the forces of Indian Army and Royal Thai Army in August.

This 14 days exercise objectives to build and promote nearer family members between both countries and to make stronger the ability of Royal Thai Army and Indian Army to undertake joint tactical stage operations on the dealing with of insurgency and comparable issues in the urban/rural state of affairs.


Representatives from both armies performed an exercise making plans for upcoming joint exercise.


A joint protocol highlighting more than a few aspects of conduct used to be signed by representatives of Indian Army and Royal Thai Army in Chachoengsao, Thailand.


Ex-Maitree series of bilateral workouts has been one of the crucial main defence cooperation projects between India and Thailand. It is an annual reciprocal coaching tournament. The earlier exercise used to be held at Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh in 2017.


Thailand and India had been cooperating in more than a few multilateral fora like ASEAN, ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), East Asia Summit, BIMSTEC. In addition, India is a member of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) initiated by Thailand in 2002 and of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC).
