Coimbatore: The mahila court on Thursday sentenced a 55-year-old man to five years imprisonment for raping a mentally-challenged lady at her area near Kuniyamuthur in 2015.
Judge J Sridevi sentenced R Rayappan, a resident of Sathya Nagar near Kuniyathuthur, for raping his good friend's daughter, a 29-year-old lady on March 24, 2015.
Rayappan used to consult with the sufferer's area after the demise of her father two years ahead of the incident, police sources said. The sufferer’s mom used to paintings in a detergent manufacturing unit near the house leaving her at area at the care of neighbours. Making use of the oppurtunity, Rayappan raped her.
