Police register FIR for forged ‘ECI’ letter

Ahmedabad: Gandhinagar police registered an FIR in opposition to unknown persons for circulating a forged letter, purportedly from the Election Commission of India (ECI), to various govt offices, asking them to inquire into the opportunity of rigging of EVM machines.
Senior police officers stated the Gandhinagar superintendent of police (SP) received the letter within the ultimate week of April, as did other departments of the state govt. The letter had poor grammar and the phrasing of phrases raised suspicion.


Senior police officers stated the SP idea the letter was faux as he reads English letters that his place of business receives himself.

“After checking with the ECI, we discovered that they had never written one of these letter. The ECI directed us to take felony action because the letter was forged and may hurt the popularity of a constitutional authority,” stated Virendra Yadav, the Gandhinagar SP.


Senior officers stated letters with identical content have been also despatched to Bathinda in Punjab, Delhi and a couple of other states. The other states had already registered an FIR in regards to the faux letter, a senior police officer stated.


“The FIR has been registered at Sector 7 police station in Gandhinagar with its police inspector, K K Pandya, changing into the complainant,” added Yadav.


Police sources stated while the complaint has been lodged below sections 471, 465 and 469 of the IPC, they'll also probe the conspiracy angle. “We will upload segment 120 (b) if proof issues to a conspiracy,” a senior police officer stated.
