RTI activist shot dead in Motihari

MOTIHARI: Noted right-to-information (RTI) activist Rajendra Prasad Singh, 60, used to be shot lifeless by some motorcycle-borne assailants on NH-28 near Mathbanawari village underneath Pipra Kothi police station in East Champaran district on Tuesday. Riding his motorbike, Rajendra used to be on his method to Motihari from his local village Mangalapur when the goons attacked him, killing him on the spot.

Rajendra is the second RTI activist to be killed in final two months. Earlier in April, Jayant Kumar of Vaishali district used to be shot lifeless by two unidentified gunmen at Garaul Chowk underneath Garaul police station. Jayant had reportedly earned the displeasure of several govt officials within the district by looking for information on more than a few initiatives.


Rajendra’s body used to be dropped at Motihari Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Pipra Kothi station space officer (SHO) Abhishek Kumar Singh stated efforts have been on to nab the culprits. Police sources claimed the involvement of some middlemen in his homicide.


After looking for information, Rajendra had lodged a case towards 200 faux beneficiaries of the old-age pension scheme, following which they have been compelled to go back the money to the government.
