HYDERABAD: With the specter of the scary Nipah virus looming huge, a string of messages on social media are doing rounds urging other folks to avoid consuming end result for at least a couple of weeks. And bats are touted because the harbingers of the illness.

While the onslaught of messages has already ended in crashing of fruit costs, other folks apprehensive of the effects of eating end result also are calling up health experts.

Among the end result that those messages indicate other folks should avoid are: mangoes, litchi, jackfruit, guavas, papaya, melons and various forms of berries. One such message that went viral in Hyderabad went a step ahead and stated how the Fever Hospital had issued an alert to keep away from those end result. It was once therefore discovered to be false.

Among different messages doing rounds on Twitter and WhatsApp had been: “Unless we are cautious extra other folks will die. Experts, then again, rubbished the claim made by those messages. “There isn't any harm in eating any kind of fruit; handiest it should be totally washed. “So some distance we don't have any cases reported in our house and there is not any reason to avoid any kind of fruit. We just wish to make sure that the fruit is undamaged,” said Hari Kishan, marketing consultant normal physician, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda.


The dwindling demand of end result has adversely impacted vendors. “Despite the litchi season being at its peak, we are unable to sell even part the supply by the end of the day. Earlier, all of the provide can be bought off by overdue afternoon,” said Ramesh, a roadside vendor at Kukatpally.
