PATIALA: The police have booked a man and his mother after his 32-year-old wife committed suicide in Patiala.
Identified as Gurjinder Kaur, the sufferer messaged her suicide notice on WhatsApp to her brother ahead of taking the extreme step. She alleged that she used to be being tortured through her husband Jagwinder Singh and in-laws for dowry.
Gurjinder had were given married to Jagwinder of Banur 8 years again. The couple had two kids aged seven and two.
She hanged herself on Monday.
The police booked her husband, his mother and his relative beneath Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the grievance of Gurjinder's brother Amandeep Singh. The police have also added sections of dowry towards the accused within the FIR.
The body used to be passed over to the members of the family after the autopsy.
Police mentioned Amandeep claimed to have received a telephone call from his sister's husband informing him about her ill-health and her treatment at a non-public clinic.
He mentioned once they reached the clinic, they came to grasp that she had committed suicide, following which they lodged a grievance.
